Hello Diana,

Thanks for posting. I have no clue how people find this post. I haven't had any opportunities to listen to any de Taeye's pieces other than his Humoresque (which his grandson most generously provided to me the score,) but I suppose it would be very difficult in general to find recordings or even more so, live performances of de Taeye's pieces here in America. You say that his son is your husband's cousin?

You'll have to excuse my missing the above comment, and of course my own sent yesterday in your 'about' tag. I first heard Alex' Deux Mouvements Symphoniques decades ago in Mons. His son, my husband's cousin, gave us the vinyl. It is incredibly beautiful, and a lovely piece for any orchestra to play. His short piano works, especially the prelude Solitude and the Sonatina are also captivating -- and fun to play.

Alex De Taeye is hardly an obscure Belgian composer (... although Perlman and Sony don't seem to know too much about him)!!!! 1898 - 1952, graduated from the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles, professor of harmony there for a few years until he became director of the Conservatoire de Mons in 1931 until his death. Prix de Rome in 1927. His music is romantic, somewhat in the tradition of Franck and Lekeu, but very much his own. I should think the score for Humoresque IS available. Give me an email if you're still looking for help!
